Rosedale

With one of the highest livability scores in all of Austin, the Rosedale neighborhood offers something for everyone. Located in north central Austin, Rosedale’s rough geographical borders are Shoal Creek Boulevard to the west, Lamar Boulevard to the east, North Loop/Hancock Drive to the north, and 38th Street to the south.

Homes in the Rosedale neighborhood were mostly built in the 1930s and 1940s. Many remodels and revitalization projects have brought in younger professionals and new families, but there are still some original owners who take pride in their homestead. Ramsey Park is a hugely popular neighborhood attraction featuring tennis and basketball courts, a swimming pool, and a large limestone amphitheater. Local restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping are all within walking distance.

Since the mid 1970s, Seton Medical Center has flourished here. U.S. News & World Report rank Seton Medical Center No. 1 in the Austin metro area and is recognized for 9 different specialities.

Rosedale is family-oriented, yet it is not far from everything, as many family-oriented neighborhoods tend to be. Rosedale is conveniently close to UT (only about 2 miles), but not too close to have loud partying students. Rosedale is well connected to downtown and to northern neighborhoods, both via express buses and regular buses. Perhaps what I like the most is that Rosedale is walker-friendly. One can walk to cafés (houndstooth is my favorite), a few restaurants, and the great Central Market, with its wonderful food, live music, and playscape.
People in Rosedale tend to have a high level of education, appreciate family life and culture, and are not pretentious.
Homes are quaint (some modern some old) and mostly well-kept. There are no mansions here, just normal people who enjoy Austin.
