North University

North University is a small neighborhood located in Central Austin just south of Hyde Park. With a similar feel to Hyde Park and because of its close proximity to the University of Texas, North University attracts many Professors and their families, graduate & post-graduate students. All cohabitate here. Walkability is an understatement here as it takes just minutes arrive at your next destination, which could very well be one of the local hangouts such as Spider House Cafe, Trudy’s, or Crown & Anchor Pub. North University is also located just a few short blocks to St. David’s Hospital.

A small yet importantly preserved historic area called Aldridge Place exists within the North University neighborhood. Here you will find turn-of-the-century stately homes that reflect the antiquity and charm of this area. Residents of Aldridge Place have worked tirelessly to preserve their neighborhood area and do not allow for special zoning or development that is inconsistent with the neighborhood’s original character. Hemphill Park is a small pocket park located in Aldridge Place where North University residents can enjoy being outside. Life in North University is relaxed and enjoyable.

We love this neighborhood because it is close to everything (esp UT), easy to walk to things, and still really quiet with a cohesive community. Lots of UT folks live here but so do people from all other professions.
