The Allandale neighborhood lies between Mopac and Burnet Road,with West Anderson Lane to the north and Hancock Drive to the south.The convenient central location allows for easy access to destinationsall over Austin, many of which can be reached without using majorhighways. Homes here are generally smaller, single-story, built in the1950s, and sit on larger lots. Many maintain their original structure andcharacter, although there are plenty of remodeled options too. For thisreason, you’ll find empty nesters, young professionals, and familiesmoving in. A strong sense of community exists in this area withtree-lined streets and several parks within the neighborhood.
Many iconic shops and businesses started here including Austin’sown Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Terra Toys, Conan’s Pizza, andAmy’s Ice Cream. Also now home to HopDoddy, some of the bestburgers and beer around! Recently Northcross Mall, a mix of chainand local businesses, underwent a major renovation.
Students attend AISD schools, including highlyranked Gullett Elementary and McCallum HighSchool. The Fine Arts Academy at McCallumprovides an exemplary arts education programto pursue an accelerated arts curriculum as finearts majors. Paragon Preparatory and The TexasSchool for the Blind and Visually Impaired arealso nearby.
